PORTFOLIO

Blind Magazine

Blind Magazine was a project focused on improving my editorial skills. The educational magazine investigated bats and their folklore around the world. While retaining a visually engaging and simple-to-digest format, the creation of Blind Magazine was a balance between creating dense, informational spreads with interesting and inspired layouts. In addition, all ads in Blind Magazine were also integral to improving my skills in advertising overall.

Before this project, my main focus was strictly on graphics, but in the process of creating and researching for this magazine, I learned much more about layout principles from older and newer magazines, which I applied to my own. With the nature of the creative process, I encountered many new challenges, but with the information learned from my research, I was able to overcome them and create a project that I am proud of.

Coffee Cow

Coffee Cow was a design project for a product of our choice. The project included both packaging design and marketing, including an ad and social media posts. As well as making the packaging, I created an ad campaign for Coffee Cow’s grand introduction. Various ads were created, such as a poster, an Instagram post, and a frame animation ad that would be posted on YouTube.

Three different coffee cream packages were created to attract young adult consumers. The main goal was to create unique, interesting packaging with illustrations that would be eye-catching and atypical.

Jelly Belly

As an introduction to package design, we were assigned to make a label for summer beer for Granville Island. My main goal was to create packaging that was fun and colorful to complement the summer season. I created the Jellybelly Beer label. Since my skills have greatly improved, I redesigned the original label, and I wanted to show how I can alter a design without changing the original message.

One big challenge that I faced during this redesign was how to display the pink jellyfish which was the main focus of the label. I was torn between keeping the same design or completely redoing it. I decided to create a more professional version. For the first label, I used a scanned copy of a sketch. By using Photoshop and Illustrator, I created a cleaner and more detailed jellyfish that did not look like a sketch.

Elevate

Our client was Window Fashion, a company that wanted to rebrand. They wanted a completely new logo, website, and social media presence. I worked with a team of designers, and my role was to assist with branding and logo design. As well as creating digital assets, I created templates for social media and web use.

Our client’s idea for the rebrand was to have a boho aesthetic with a sophisticated tone. My idea was to present a darker, luxurious, and moodier aesthetic for their company. My team and I presented three mood boards and logos to the client, in which she chose my designs and logo. Based on that mood board, we were able to create the colour palette and the overall theme of her brand. Along with the rebrand, we established a new name for the company, Elevate.

This was a client project that I worked on alone. My client wanted to create a personal brand that had a versatile design that could apply to the many items in her shop. The client named her shop Honestgin. She wanted me to create a logo, colour palette, icon, and banner for her shop.

Initially, she had three ideas that she wanted to incorporate in her logo: flowers, lips, and the female form. After showing some variations of logos I created, she agreed on the logo of a female with dark hair and deep red lips. We decided that we would use flowers as assets for her branding for her business card and banner to incorporate all the colours that she wanted in her colour palette.
